He consistently ranks among the top 10 NHL forwards for ice time, which shows he’s a trusted player in various situations, from power plays to penalty kills. Team Canada coach Jon Cooper highlighted this versatility: “There’s not too many guys that can excel both as a power-play player and a penalty killer.” His performance last season was stellar; he recorded a career-best 102 points, finishing fifth in NHL scoring.

Marner leaves Toronto as one of the team’s all-time greats, holding the fifth spot on their scoring list with 741 points by age 28. He was a high draft pick for the Leafs back in 2015 and quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his finesse on the ice.
