Discover the Boys and Girls Club’s Exciting Summer Food Service Program for Kids!

The Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area is once again offering free meals to children this summer through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program. This initiative aims to provide healthy lunches and snacks to kids, ensuring they have access to nutritious food during the break.

At the Boys and Girls Club located at 1600 Minnesota Ave. NW, meals will be available Monday through Friday until August 29, excluding the holiday from June 30 to July 4. Lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with snacks provided from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The Conifer Site at 2512 Phoenix Loop NW will serve meals Monday through Thursday until August 14, with lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and snacks from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., except on July 3.

Meanwhile, the Blackduck Branch at 156 First St. NE will offer meals Tuesday through Thursday, also until August 14. Lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and snacks will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Providing free meals is essential, especially in recent years. According to a report by the Food Research & Action Center, food insecurity affects 1 in 8 children in the U.S. Programs like this are crucial in addressing that need, offering nourishment and support for families.

Local community members have shared their thoughts on social media, expressing gratitude for such programs. Many parents feel relieved knowing their kids can enjoy healthy meals during the summer months, alleviating some of the financial pressure on families.

In summary, the Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area is making a positive impact this summer by ensuring kids have access to meals. For more details, you can visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website.
