Jurassic World Rebirth: Projected to Roar to M on Wednesday, Eyeing a Staggering 8M Opening Weekend!

Universal’s latest release, Jurassic World Rebirth, has opened to a strong $28 million on its first day, just missing last year’s record set by Despicable Me 4. While the movie is expected to bring in around $77.5 million over the July 4 weekend, predicting box office numbers can be tricky. The holiday falls on a Friday this year, which can be a slower day for moviegoers.

This marks the fourth highest opening day for the Jurassic franchise. Notably, this is only the second time a Jurassic movie premiered on a Wednesday, with the last being Jurassic World III in 2001. The top openers remain Jurassic World at $81.9 million, followed by Dominion and Fallen Kingdom, which earned $59.5 million and $58.5 million, respectively.

Jurassic World Rebirth is showing in 4,308 theaters, including premium large format screens. Critics are mixed; it currently holds a 54% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, an improvement from Dominion, which had just 29%.

In terms of social media buzz, the film’s marketing has reached an impressive 921 million followers across various platforms, boasting a viral repost rate on YouTube of 26:1. The film’s star, Jonathan Bailey, has generated considerable excitement, with 5.4 million Instagram followers.

Historically, July 4 is a double-edged sword for box offices. In the past, films often saw a boost during this holiday, but this year could differ. To illustrate, in 2014, Transformers: Age of Extinction saw a significant dip in its earnings on Independence Day.

On the competition front, Apple Original Films’ F1 is also performing well, with an estimated $6 million on its opening day. It has already grossed a total of about $78 million.

Overall, Jurassic World Rebirth seems poised for success, but the unpredictable nature of holiday weekends could ultimately sway its box office fortune.
