IG Drones Secures Patent for Innovative Defence Drone Simulator: A Step Towards ‘Aatmanirbharta’ in India

Noida-based IG Drones has made headlines by securing India’s first patent for a homegrown defence drone simulator. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled this innovation at Defence Expo 2022, highlighting India’s commitment to enhancing its defence capabilities as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

This simulator is entirely designed, developed, and assembled in India. It offers realistic training environments for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces, allowing operators to engage with combat drones even in challenging conditions, like GPS-denied areas.

By incorporating AI, physics-based engines, and real-time terrain modeling, IG Drones’ simulator reduces dependence on foreign technology. According to the CEO, Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, “This patent celebrates India’s technological resurgence. We are shaping the future of Bharat’s defence.”

Until now, the drone simulator sector was largely dominated by international firms. IG Drones now holds the intellectual property rights in this space, marking a significant shift in India’s defence landscape.

This development also aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 mission, aiming for self-reliance in defence technology. Furthermore, it showcases India’s ambition to redefine warfare through domestic innovation. Recently, the startup supported Operation Sindoor, where they deployed indigenously developed drones for surveillance, mapping, and precision strikes.

IG Drones has also partnered with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), solidifying its role in advancing national security. As the demand for tech-driven solutions grows, the patent not only enhances India’s defence capabilities but also sends a clear message: India is ready to step forward with its own tools and talent.

Recent statistics reveal a surge in innovation within the Indian defence sector. A report from the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) indicates a 35% increase in homegrown defence technologies over the past three years. This momentum opens new avenues for startups and emphasizes the need for innovation in national security.
