Tripura Unveils Innovative School Rating Framework: CM Manik Saha Highlights Its Potential to Transform Education

On Friday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha introduced the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSQAAF) at an event in Agartala. He emphasized that this new initiative will significantly improve the education sector in Tripura.

During the launch, CM Saha noted a substantial investment in education, saying it would enhance the state’s educational landscape. He highlighted a recent recruitment drive for 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers, stressing the importance of filling vacancies with qualified candidates transparently through the Teachers’ Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT).

Tripura has recently achieved the status of being one of India’s few “fully literate” states, following Mizoram and Goa. With a literacy rate of 95.6%, the state has seen impressive results in Class 10 and 12 examinations, achieving pass rates of over 86% and 79%, respectively. Notably, Vidyajyoti schools reported a 26% increase in Class 10 and a 21% boost in Class 12 pass rates from the previous year.

The Chief Minister pointed out that past literacy programs focused mainly on signature skills. Today’s objectives encompass reading, writing, basic math, critical life skills, and vocational training. He insisted that education goes beyond just obtaining certificates; it plays a crucial role in shaping moral values.

In a social media post, CM Saha mentioned the state’s commitment to implementing the National Education Policy. He expressed hopes that TSQAAF will allow schools to achieve the same level of quality assessment as the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) does for higher education institutions.

This initiative aligns with global trends emphasizing educational quality. Recent studies have shown that effective school accreditation can improve student outcomes significantly. According to a report by the World Bank, countries that adopted robust educational frameworks witnessed a 25% increase in overall student performance over a decade.

As educational methods evolve, stakeholders like parents and teachers have taken to social media to share their excitement and concerns about these changes. Many parents see these developments as a step towards a brighter future for their children, while others express caution, hoping that practical measures will be taken to support every child’s unique learning needs.

With renewed focus and substantial investment, Tripura is on a path to redefine its educational standards, aiming for excellence and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
