Meet Erin Moore: Your Go-To Assistant Coach at the University of Michigan Athletics Staff Directory

Erin Moore is stepping into her first season as an assistant coach for the University of Michigan’s field hockey team. She focuses on developing the Wolverines’ goalkeepers.

Moore joins Michigan with a solid coaching background. She has five years of college experience and 11 years working with middle and high school athletes. Last season at the University of Delaware, she trained goalkeeper Cecile van Eijck, who played all 22 games and achieved impressive stats, including five shutouts. Under Moore’s guidance, Delaware won the 2024 CAA Tournament and moved on to the NCAA Tournament.

This past summer, Moore took part in the “NFHCA to the Olympics Coach Tour,” visiting places like the Netherlands and Belgium, and gaining insights in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Before her time at Delaware, she spent four seasons at Bentley University. There, she helped the Falcons reach three winning seasons and was pivotal during their 2021 NCAA Tournament run, their first since 2012. In 2023, one of her goalkeepers, Mia Trottie, earned NFHCA All-America honors.

Moore holds her Level 2 Certification from USA Field Hockey and an FIH Level 1 Certification. She participated in the NCAA Women’s Coaching Academy in 2023 and has led several goalkeeping camps up and down the East Coast, including those at Saint Michael’s College and Nike Field Hockey Camps.

A native of Rosedale, Maryland, Moore was a standout goalkeeper during her college years at Regis College, where she was part of the team that won the 2016 New England Collegiate Conference championship. She graduated with a degree in public health and a minor in biology in 2019. Recently, she completed a Certificate in Foundations of Global Sport Management from NYU and is currently pursuing an MBA focused on leadership.

As field hockey grows in popularity, experts suggest that strong coaching is essential for developing talent at all levels. According to a 2022 survey by the NCAA, mentorship from knowledgeable coaches like Moore significantly enhances player development, shaping future leaders in the sport.
