UVA Health Cancer Care in Gainesville Boosted by ,000 Donation from Heritage Charity Classic, Inc.

The UVA Community Health Foundation recently received a generous $25,000 donation from Heritage Charity Classic, Inc., aimed at supporting the UVA Health Cancer Care clinic in Gainesville, VA. This check was handed over on June 4, 2025, marking another milestone in a partnership dedicated to fighting cancer.

Heritage Charity Classic, Inc. has been raising funds for over 20 years, gathering nearly $500,000 during that time to support the local cancer clinic. Ross Kerr, president of the board, and other representatives from the charity presented the check, highlighting their commitment to community-driven philanthropy.

Felicia Blow, PhD, executive director of the UVA Community Foundation, expressed the significance of this donation. She said, “This reflects what community support can achieve.” According to Blow, these funds will enhance access to advanced cancer care for local patients, allowing them to receive treatments closer to home. Community support plays a crucial role in realizing UVA Health’s mission to promote healthier communities.

The UVA Health Cancer Care clinic is set to offer state-of-the-art radiation oncology services in Northern Virginia. They’re renovating a new space at the Lake Manassas Professional Center to enhance patient care. The facility will feature 10 exam rooms, an updated lab, an expanded infusion area with 18 bays, and a specialized pharmacy. Patients can expect to see new clinical exam rooms open by October 2025, with additional services rolling out in 2026.

Amanda Welch, COO of UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center, emphasized how special this project is since many patients are also community supporters. “Exceptional care is not only about technology; it’s about compassionate teams accompanying patients through their journeys,” she mentioned. This approach helps create a supportive environment, vital for effective healing.

UVA Health provides cancer care services at several accredited locations, including UVA Health Prince William Medical Center and the UVA Health Breast Care Center, which are recognized for their excellence in cancer treatment.

As this donation and renovation project progress, the connection between community support and quality healthcare remains evident. It demonstrates that when people come together, they can make a significant impact on healthcare access and quality in their area.
