Moscow, July 14: Nagaland Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio recently participated in Bharat Utsav 2025 in Moscow, emphasizing the strong ties between India and Russia. The festival celebrated Indian culture and featured attractions like music, dance, yoga, and delicious food.
Held at Manezhnaya Square, Rio described Nagaland as a land of stunning beauty and rich traditions. He encouraged Russian visitors to explore the state, inviting them to experience its unique arts, crafts, and textiles. This invitation was not only to showcase Nagaland but also to draw attention to its vibrant heritage.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow, led by Ambassador Vinay Kumar, played a vital role in the event’s success, and the support from the Moscow City Government was also acknowledged. Rio specifically invited attendees to Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival, a major cultural event that highlights the state’s diverse heritage.
The Nagaland Department of Tourism, under Minister Temjen Imna Along, promoted the state as part of the Incredible India campaign, using presentations and literature to draw interest from potential tourists. Additionally, the Department of Industries and Commerce showcased “Made in Nagaland” products, such as traditional textiles and Nagaland coffee, which attracted considerable attention.
Culturally, the event featured performances from both Nagaland and Gujarat. A dedicated 25-member delegation from Nagaland, curated by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA), captivated the audience with folk music, traditional dances, and even a popular Russian song. Their performances received widespread applause, highlighting the rich diversity of Indian culture.
Ambassador Vinay Kumar reflected on the enthusiastic response from Moscow’s residents, noting that Nagaland’s vibrant contributions showcased India’s diversity. He stated that Bharat Utsav 2025 reinforced the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations, further enhancing mutual ties and connections.
During his visit, Dr. Rio also engaged with the Indian community and business representatives, sharing insights through interviews, including one with Russia Today. His efforts underscore the importance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international relationships.
