Discover the Indian Whisky That Dominated the 2025 International Whisky Competition in Kentucky – Priced at Just Rs 9,000!

India is making waves in the whisky world. A homegrown brand recently took top honors at the International Whisky Competition (IWC) 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky. The competition is highly regarded, with strict judging standards that require blind tastings by industry experts.

DeVANS Modern Breweries shone at the event. Their latest single malt, GianChand Adambaraa, was celebrated as the Best Indian Single Malt Whisky 2025 and also snagged the Best Indian Whisky 2025 title. This recognition highlights the brand’s dedication to crafting quality spirits.

Prem Dewan, the Chairman of DeVANS, expressed pride in these achievements. He noted that the awards reflect their commitment to quality and innovation. Adambaraa is named after the company’s founder and is produced in Jammu, nestled in the Himalayan foothills. It’s their first unpeated single malt, designed for whisky lovers who appreciate complexity in flavor. The whisky is aged in select American bourbon barrels, resulting in a rich amber color and tasting notes of honey, dried apricots, caramel, and a hint of spice.

Whisky critic Jim Murray, known for his influential Whisky Bible, praised Adambaraa, saying it rivals high-quality Scottish malts. His enthusiasm underscores a growing trend—Indian whiskies are gaining respect globally.

Historically, India has long been a land of spirits, yet the whisky market has exploded in recent years. According to a recent report by Drinks International, whisky consumption in India grew by over 30% in the past five years. This surge is part of a broader trend where consumers are increasingly open to exploring premium liquors.

The success of Indian brands like DeVANS signals a bright future for the industry. As tastes evolve, and more consumers appreciate the craftsmanship behind each bottle, the stage is set for India to claim a significant spot on the global whisky map.
