Cyberpunk 2077’s update 2.3 is scheduled for release on July 17. This patch will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, though not for Nintendo Switch 2 yet. CD Projekt makes it clear that they need more time for the Switch version, with updates promised “soon after.”
Paweł Sasko, the game’s Associate Game Director, shared that this update will enhance vehicles and customization options. Players can expect three new cars and one customizable motorcycle, the first of its kind in the game. Unlocking these vehicles will involve completing specific quests. These new quests don’t count towards 100% completion in the game, so completionists will need to prioritize accordingly.
One exciting feature is the AutoDrive option. This allows players to hands-free navigate the streets of Night City. You simply set a destination, and the vehicle drives there automatically, adhering to traffic rules. Of course, if you encounter trouble, AutoDrive will pause, giving you a chance to handle any threats.
For those who love to explore, a wandering mode allows vehicles to roam freely without a destination, perfect for soaking in the sights of Night City. You can even hire the Delamain AI taxi service to get around.
Update 2.3 also brings a new cinematic camera feature, enhancing the driving experience. Inspired by fan-made videos, this will allow for a more immersive journey through the game’s stunning environments. Players can capture these moments using the refreshed Photo Mode. New options include weather adjustments, time of day changes, and a whole slew of NPCs to interact with for photo opportunities.
On the technical side, PC players will benefit from support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 and Intel XeSS 2.0. However, FSR 4 won’t be available until a future AMD driver is released. The update will also improve HDR10+ support and introduce Variable Refresh Rate for console versions.
Interestingly, CD Projekt has stated that there’s no news about “New Game Plus” features or significant new quests in this patch, raising questions about the future of the game. As Cyberpunk 2077 approaches its five-year anniversary, some fans hope for a surprise update.
Looking toward the future, CD Projekt recently announced that a sequel, Cyberpunk 2, has entered pre-production. However, a release isn’t expected until late 2030 or early 2031, according to their estimates.
Despite its ups and downs since launch, the game’s community remains passionate. Recent social media discussions highlight players’ anticipation for the new features in update 2.3, showcasing a vibrant player base engaged with the evolving world of Cyberpunk 2077.
