Brightli and Centerstone Join Forces to Create the Nation’s Largest Behavioral Health Nonprofit: What This Means for Clarksville

Nashville, TN – Brightli and Centerstone, two major nonprofit behavioral health providers, are planning to merge. This partnership aims to enhance their services and reach, serving over 250,000 clients each year.

Brightli, based in Springfield, Missouri, operates more than 220 locations with around 6,000 employees. Centerstone is based in Nashville and has about 4,300 staff across 140 locations. Together, they will create the largest nonprofit provider of mental health and substance use disorder care in the U.S.

Combining forces allows both organizations to share expertise and resources. This merger is especially important as mental health needs are rising, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. A report by the National Alliance on Mental Illness highlights that one in five adults experience mental illness each year in the U.S. This mounting demand makes it crucial for organizations like Brightli and Centerstone to expand their reach and improve care.

Brightli’s CEO, C.J. Davis, emphasizes that this collaboration will allow them to better serve their communities. Both organizations have histories of successful partnerships, having merged with numerous affiliates to enhance their impact and care delivery.

Similarly, Centerstone’s CEO, David C. Guth, Jr., recognizes that combining their strengths will help navigate the challenges facing behavioral health services today. He notes that while the demand for services is climbing, many smaller providers struggle with limited resources.

Chuck Ingoglia, President and CEO of the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, views this merger as a progressive move to strengthen the U.S. behavioral health system. He believes that by pooling their resources, they are setting a new standard for delivering high-quality mental health care.

Once the merger is complete in November 2025, the new organization will have more than 360 service locations across nine states, ensuring that existing patients continue to receive care from the providers they trust.

As the mental health landscape evolves, this partnership may set a precedent for other organizations to follow. By focusing on collective growth, Brightli and Centerstone are paving the way for more efficient and sustainable care solutions.

In a time when mental health services are desperately needed, this merger could change the way care is delivered, offering hope to countless individuals in need.
