Join Forces: Eight Maui Rotary Groups Collaborate to Support Maui Food Bank on August 2nd!

Eight Rotary clubs in Maui are teaming up for a big food drive on August 2nd, from 9 a.m. to noon. They are joining forces with the Hawaii Food Bank to collect nonperishable food and cash donations for the Maui Food Bank. This effort will help local families, seniors on fixed incomes, and single parents who rely on the Food Bank’s services.

You can drop off your donations at several Safeway locations:

  • Kahului and Upcountry Maui Rotary Clubs will be at Safeway on Ho`okele Street.
  • Kihei Wailea and its Satellite club will be at Safeway in the Lipoa Shopping Center.
  • Lahaina Sunrise and Lahaina Sunset Rotary Clubs will be at Safeway Lahaina.
  • The Wailuku Rotary Club, Safeway Maui Lani, and Eco Rotary Club will be at Walmart.

If you prefer, you can make direct online donations at Maui Food Bank or learn more about their initiatives at mauifoodbank.org.

Volunteering in community efforts like this food drive can be impactful. According to a recent survey by Feeding America, around 35 million people in the U.S. face food insecurity. Local initiatives like the Rotary food drive play a vital role in addressing this issue at a grassroots level.

Social media is buzzing with support for local food drives. Many residents are sharing their donations online, using hashtags like #MauiFoodDrive and #FeedTheNeed. It’s a great way to inspire others to contribute.
