Experience the Magic of Chalkfest: A Vibrant Sidewalk Art Celebration at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Last Saturday, nearly two hundred artists gathered at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire for the annual Chalkfest. This lively event started in 2007 at Wilson Park and moved to the campus in 2015 to utilize its spacious sidewalks.

This year’s festival faced some challenges. Space was limited due to the ongoing demolition of Zorn Arena. Organizers are optimistic that those areas will be available for next year’s event.

Artists, some as young as twelve, displayed their creativity. Their chalk drawings were judged by professionals, and attendees also had a chance to vote for their favorites.

Nicole Rindone, an events coordinator at UW-Eau Claire, emphasized the community spirit of Chalkfest. “The artists are here to make folks happy, and they are happy. It’s just a great community event,” she said.

Rindone highlighted that the festival’s success relies on community support. “Not many places can host something like this. We’ve built a reputation and infrastructure for events like Chalkfest,” she noted.
