How Incessant Rains Are Disrupting Daily Life for Dhaka Residents

Heavy rains from an active monsoon have brought chaos to daily life in Dhaka. Starting Sunday evening and continuing into Monday morning, the rains led to flooding in many low-lying areas.

Commuters faced major challenges getting to work. With limited transport options during rush hour, many found themselves waiting long for buses and rickshaws. Some passengers even reported being overcharged by drivers taking advantage of the situation.

Afroza Sultana from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department noted that Dhaka experienced 50mm of rainfall overnight. She warns that more rain is expected on Tuesday due to ongoing active monsoon conditions.

Rangamati recorded the highest rainfall during this period, reaching 124mm. Across the country, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is predicted, especially in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions. The Met Office anticipates that similar weather will continue, with heavier rainfall expected in certain areas.
