The University of West Florida has appointed Dr. Clifford Humphrey as its new Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff, starting August 4. This new role aims to support Interim President Manny Diaz Jr. and is part of the President’s Cabinet.
“I’m thrilled to have Dr. Humphrey on board,” said Diaz. “His role is crucial for aligning our priorities across the University and with our partners. He brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, and I’m eager to collaborate with him.”
In his position, Humphrey will act as a key advisor to the Interim President. He’ll drive strategic initiatives, oversee critical operations, and manage significant projects that impact the university and its partnerships. With strong skills in organization and communication, he will focus on advancing the university’s mission in research and teaching.
“Returning to UWF is an honor for me,” Humphrey mentioned. “I’m eager to support Interim President Diaz in advancing the university’s goals and serving our community and the great state of Florida. Let’s get started!”
Before joining UWF, Humphrey held prominent roles including Executive Vice Chancellor for the Florida College System. He also taught political philosophy at Florida State University and has experience as a lecturer, director of admissions, and a teacher. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Palm Beach Atlantic University and both a Master’s and Ph.D. in politics from Hillsdale College.
This appointment comes at an exciting time for UWF, which has seen a significant increase in enrollment over recent years, reflecting a growing interest in education in Florida. In fact, the Florida College System reported a 5% increase in student enrollment in the last academic year. This upward trend highlights the need for dynamic leadership, especially as institutions aim to adapt to changing educational needs.
