Tom Holland Kicks Off Filming for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ in Glasgow: Why He Says It Feels Different This Time

Tom Holland is back as Spider-Man! Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has begun in Glasgow, Scotland, and fans are buzzing with excitement.

In a clip from Sony, Holland shared his thoughts on the first day. “I feel good, man. It’s day one, my fourth day one on Spider-Man,” he said. This time, fans are actually present on set, making the experience even more special for him. “It’s really exciting to share this with them,” he added.

After chatting with some cosplaying fans, Holland jumped into action, filming a scene where he dramatically rips off a hatch from a tank while it drives through the city.

Holland expressed thrill about filming on location again. Due to COVID-19, the previous Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, was entirely shot on soundstages. “Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations,” he explained. He hopes this approach will resonate with fans, similar to how Spider-Man 1 felt in 2017.

Sony announced that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set for a July 24, 2026 release. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the film will see Holland’s co-star, Zendaya, return as MJ.

This upcoming film also highlights a growing trend in the film industry: returning to real locations after years of heavy reliance on digital sets. According to a recent report from the Motion Picture Association, 70% of filmmakers believe shooting on location enhances the audience’s experience.

With Holland and a fresh cast coming together, anticipation is high. Fans are eager to see how the film will blend nostalgia with new storytelling in a vibrant setting like Glasgow.
