Eric Metaxas and Bill McKendry: Cornerstone University’s First Distinguished President’s Fellows Bring Innovation and Insight

Cornerstone University is excited to announce that Eric Metaxas and Bill McKendry are now Distinguished President’s Fellows. This honor celebrates their strong influence in leadership, media, and faith, and aligns perfectly with the university’s 84-year history.

Metaxas and McKendry will guide students by connecting academic learning with practical skills rooted in biblical truths. They’ll engage students through mentorship and public discussions on campus and beyond.

Dr. Gerson Moreno-Riaño, the university’s president, expressed that both leaders positively impact business and culture with their Christ-centered approach. “Our students will learn directly from influential leaders in media and communication,” he said. This commitment to developing morally grounded, skilled leaders is essential in today’s world.

Eric Metaxas is well-known as the host of the popular Eric Metaxas Show and “Socrates in the City,” which explores deep topics like life and faith. His biographies of figures like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Martin Luther have sparked important conversations about culture and responsibility. His work has reached a global audience, being translated into 25 languages. Metaxas has written for major publications like The Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic, and he holds a degree in English from Yale University, along with several honorary doctorates. He believes that families should seek institutions that uphold biblical values, and he is thrilled to mentor students at Cornerstone.

Bill McKendry is a prominent figure in marketing and nonprofit work. He founded “Do More Good,” an initiative that helps nonprofits grow and succeed. His book, also titled “Do More Good,” has been well-received. McKendry created the innovative “He Gets Us” campaign, emphasizing storytelling that makes a difference. He feels a strong connection to Cornerstone’s community and is eager to inspire students to use media for positive change.

Their appointment enhances the President’s Fellows program launched in fall 2024, which offers scholarships and mentorship to high-achieving students. They join an impressive group of fellows including Ryan Bomberger and Tudor Dixon, who all share a passion for promoting strong values and leadership.

This new initiative at Cornerstone reflects a dedication to preparing students with the skills and moral clarity they need to make a meaningful impact in various sectors.

As the world changes rapidly, initiatives like these are crucial. A recent survey by the Pew Research Center shows that 68% of young adults prioritize finding work that aligns with their values. This underscores the importance of leaders who can guide the next generation in navigating both faith and career in today’s society.

Cornersone’s new approach, combining mentorship with a solid foundation in biblical teachings, aims to equip students not just to succeed, but to thrive as values-driven leaders.
