DAYTON – The University of Dayton Athletics Department has appointed Adam Herrick as the new head coach for the women’s rowing team, starting in the 2025-26 school year.
Herrick brings over ten years of experience in competitive rowing and coaching. He’s worked with teams at various levels, including collegiate, club, junior, and adaptive programs. “I’m incredibly excited to coach the Flyers,” said Herrick. “Rowing has taught me so much, and I hope to pass those lessons on to the athletes here in Dayton.”
Previously, Herrick was the Director of Adaptive & Para at Three Rivers Rowing Association in Pittsburgh. There, he helped turn the program into a nationally recognized entity, overseeing the first all-para 8+ team at the 2023 Bayada Regatta. His efforts also included starting one of the few Special Olympics rowing programs in the country.
Herrick’s role in Pittsburgh extended beyond coaching. He managed the maintenance and repairs of boats and oars, ensuring the facilities operated smoothly. He also served as head coach for Carnegie Mellon University Rowing from 2021 to 2025, where his teams saw multiple successful campaigns, including medals at the Dad Vail Regatta.
Before arriving in Pittsburgh, Herrick coached the men’s crew team at West Virginia University, where he also rowed for four years. His leadership there yielded impressive results, showcasing his skills both on and off the water.
The Flyers look forward to the upcoming season, returning many experienced athletes. They will kick off their preparation this fall with exhibition races leading up to the championship season in the spring.
