Join Us for the Family Harvest Food Giveaway in Sunnyvale on August 27: Nourishing Our Community!

Family Harvest is hosting a food giveaway on August 27, starting at 4:15 p.m. in the Columbia Middle School parking lot, located at 739 Morse Ave.

This event will operate like a farmer’s market. Families should park, walk in, and bring reusable bags for fruits and vegetables. A cart is helpful for items like dry goods, eggs, and milk. Each family can expect to pick up around 100 pounds of food.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is planning a safety and sobriety checkpoint on September 12. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving while deterring impaired drivers.

During the checkpoint, drivers on Mathilda Avenue (between San Aleso and West Maude) will be randomly stopped. Officers will check for sobriety, seatbelt use, and ensure licenses are valid. This checkpoint will be active from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

In another community highlight, Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI) recently honored Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens with the Gordon N. Chan Leadership Award at their Back-to-School Summer Health Fair on August 2. AACI recognized Ahrens for his strong commitment to improving access and equity for underserved populations.
