The match began with Portland controlling the ball early, but the Ducks quickly turned up their defense. An early chance for Oregon came in the 12th minute when Taylor Bryan had a one-on-one with Hills but missed narrowly. The back-and-forth continued, with both teams struggling to find the net.
Portland finally managed a close shot in the 17th minute, but it missed wide. The Ducks had a couple of near misses too, including a shot straight at Hills from Bryan. In the 25th minute, Goldstein showcased her skills with a crucial save that kept the score tied.
Despite several opportunities, including a promising look for Bryan in the 39th minute, neither team could score before halftime. The second half opened with Portland trying to capitalize on a free kick, but Goldstein was ready once again.
One of the best chances for Oregon came in the 56th minute from a free kick, but the header went just left. The game continued with excellent saves on both sides. Even in the dying moments, Goldstein’s reflexes were on display as she handled another difficult shot from a Portland free kick.
After this draw, the Ducks will head to Hawaii to play against Sacramento State on August 21 and the University of Hawaii on August 24.
