Lynn Nguyen, a vibrant 22-year-old, is the proud owner of Cafe Panda in the Great Lakes Mentor Mall Food Court. Lynn was born in Cleveland and is a first-generation Vietnamese American. She aims to share her cultural roots with the community through her unique offerings.
Opening her café at just 21, she stepped into the business world on November 8, 2024. As she approaches her first anniversary, Lynn expresses excitement about future plans, including potential expansion and franchising.
“Growing up, there weren’t many Vietnamese communities in Northeast Ohio. I wanted to showcase our rich culture through coffee,” she shared. Vietnam is famous for its strong coffee, often enjoyed at cafés on every corner.
At Cafe Panda, customers can indulge in a variety of Vietnamese coffee styles. “We specialize in traditional brewing methods that create a deep, dark espresso,” Lynn explains. “Our flavors are true to our heritage, featuring ingredients like pandan—a tropical vanilla with hints of almond and coconut—as well as ube and even egg foam coffee.”
Customer reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Many patrons have expressed their delight in finally finding authentic Vietnamese coffee in Ohio, noting they often couldn’t find anything similar since moving from the East Coast.
Recent surveys show a growing interest in diverse culinary experiences, with 70% of people wanting more ethnic food options in their local areas. This trend highlights the importance of cafes like Cafe Panda, which not only satisfy cravings but also educate customers about different cultures.
