Jones stated, “The world would know that I want Micah if they knew what I had offered him.” He emphasized that Parsons is currently in the final year of his rookie deal, which is set to pay him over $24 million in 2025. For context, T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers recently signed a contract extension worth $123 million over three years, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in three-year guaranteed money at $108 million.

Adding to the drama, Parsons had requested a trade earlier this month, saying he didn’t want to be part of discussions without his agent, David Mulugheta, present. He noted, “At no point did I believe this was supposed to be a formal negotiation.”

Jones reassured fans that Parsons is under contract and even suggested using the franchise tag if needed. The franchise tag for defensive ends is roughly $22 million this season and projected to be around $26.5 million next season. Jones mentioned a similar situation with Dak Prescott, who eventually became the NFL’s highest-paid player after playing under the franchise tag.
