In the first week after the Trump administration took command of Washington, D.C.’s police, crime reports showed a modest drop. However, there was a significant rise in immigration arrests, according to a CNN analysis.

During the week starting August 12, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) noted a 19% decrease in property crimes and a 17% drop in violent crime compared to the previous week. The data indicated that while crimes like robberies decreased significantly, there was a rise in certain types of offenses, including burglaries and assaults.
