Discover Why Buckinghamshire’s Household Waste and Recycling Centres Are Rated Highly for Customer Satisfaction!

Buckinghamshire’s Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) are getting top marks for customer satisfaction. A recent survey found that over 98% of visitors are happy with their experience. This feedback comes from more than 2,500 regular users, showing how well these facilities meet local needs.

Here are some key points from the survey:

  • Overall Satisfaction: An amazing 98% of people were satisfied, with 53% saying they were very satisfied.
  • Cleanliness and Layout: The setup and cleanliness of the sites also scored high, receiving 98% satisfaction.
  • Efficiency: 57% of visitors faced no wait times, and 83% took less than 10 minutes to unload their vehicles. This showcases how smoothly the sites operate.
  • E-Permit System: Among users needing an e-permit for DIY waste, 60% applied ahead of time, and 94% were happy with the e-permit process.

Carl Jackson, the Cabinet Member for Environment, Climate Change and Waste, highlighted these results as a sign of the council’s commitment to providing sustainable waste disposal. Feedback from residents is crucial for maintaining high standards and making improvements.

Ian Scott-Browne, from FCC Environment, emphasized that these positive results reflect the dedication of their team. He noted the success of their reuse scheme, which helps minimize waste and supports the community.

The survey also looked at awareness of reuse facilities at specific HRCs. Here’s what they found:

  • In 2024/2025, the centres collected 595 tonnes of reusable items—this is equivalent to over 100 elephants!
  • Popular items donated include bikes, furniture, and sports gear.
  • 71% of respondents knew that reusable items were separated, and 58% would donate if they understood what was accepted.
  • The reuse shops operate during HRC hours and have special parking, with proceeds supporting local hospice care.

Nick Callaghan, CEO of South Bucks Hospice, expressed gratitude for the income generated from these recycling centres. The funds help provide essential community services, showing how donating can benefit everyone involved.

In today’s world, recycling is more important than ever. A 2022 report from the UK Government shows that the country’s recycling rate is approximately 44.7%. This is crucial for reducing landfill waste and encouraging sustainable practices. Local programs, like those in Buckinghamshire, play a significant role in boosting these rates.
