Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton criticized Trump’s move, saying he seeks power through chaos, regardless of the consequences. She emphasized the progress Illinois has made in lowering crime without federal intervention. “There’s no reason for this action except to distract from the issues families are facing,” she stated.
Governor JB Pritzker also condemned the potential deployment, stating that Illinois has not requested federal assistance and that there’s no current emergency. He believes Trump is trying to create a crisis for political gain. “The safety of our people is my top priority,” Pritzker added.
