Join Us for the La Salle County Food Service Seminar on September 8: Discover Key Insights and Trends!

The La Salle County Health Department is hosting its 31st Annual Food Service Seminar on September 8 at Senica’s Oak Ridge in La Salle. Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year’s program will feature experts from various organizations, including Quik-Kill Pest Eliminators, Performance Food Service, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Attendees will learn about important topics like pest control, food safety, public health emergencies, and updates from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

September is also National Food Safety Education Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 48 million people in the U.S. get sick from food-borne illnesses each year. That’s about one in six Americans. Out of these cases, 128,000 people end up in the hospital, and roughly 3,000 people die due to food-related issues.

Food poisoning can usually be avoided by following four basic safety steps: clean, separate, cook, and chill. These simple practices can help keep everyone safe.

For those interested in attending the seminar, you can pre-register by contacting the La Salle County Health Department at 815-433-3366 or visiting their website.
