Stray Kids is all about being real. This eight-member boy group from JYP Entertainment—Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N—have built their music from the ground up. They’ve spent seven years crafting songs that reflect who they are, with 3Racha, the trio of Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han, leading the charge in production.
Changbin shared in an interview, “[Producing our own music] shows our true selves as a group.” Recently, they wrapped up their North American leg of the Dominate World Tour, which grossed a remarkable $76.2 million, making it the most successful K-pop tour in North America to date.
Their latest album, Karma, embodies the idea that good actions bring good results. The title track, “Ceremony,” celebrates triumph over hardships, blending catchy beats with powerful messages. It reflects their journey, filled with moments of struggle leading to success. With lines like “No one, nobody can stop me,” they express their unstoppable spirit. Stray Kids is now the first group to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with their first six albums, and Karma is set to extend that record.
In speaking about “Ceremony,” Bang Chan explained that it was a unanimous favorite among the members for the album. He loves its catchy vibe and hopes fans connect with its message. The band aimed to incorporate various genres into this long-awaited album, emphasizing the importance of goodness and its rewards.
The group members also have their personal favorites. Hyunjin loves “Bleep” for its grand feel, while Changbin is drawn to “In My Head” for its chill vibe and sing-along potential.
After finishing their U.S. tour, Felix reflected on the experience, noting the excitement of playing in major stadiums and the valuable lessons learned along the way. The decision to use a live band was by design, aiming to deliver an authentic sound to their loyal fans, known as “Stays.”
When asked about self-care on tour, I.N mentioned working out to stay energized, while Hyunjin finds joy in visiting art museums and drawing.
Producing their music not only highlights their authenticity, Changbin said, but allows them to stay true to the style their fans love. As they notice their bond with fans evolving, Seungmin pointed out how the support from longtime Stays and newcomers fuels their motivation. While they feel pressure from growing expectations, Han emphasized that sharing the responsibility among eight members helps them navigate challenges together.
Lee Know, reflecting on their journey, noted how their understanding of each other has deepened over the years, allowing for a deeper connection without even needing words.
As for how they wish to be perceived, Seungmin expressed a desire for their music to be recognized as uniquely Stray Kids, showcasing their distinct sound. Looking ahead, Hyunjin hopes for ongoing performances and a commitment to their energetic style, aiming to remain a lasting presence in the music industry.
In recent discussions on social media, fans have praised their originality and powerful messages, solidifying their place as a group that not only makes catchy music but resonates deeply with audiences.
