The Honor Magic V5 is making waves as the slimmest book-style foldable smartphone out there. It’s just a hair thinner than the Oppo Find N5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7—only 0.1mm. Although that may sound impressive, the visual difference is negligible. When placed side by side, it’s hard to notice.

The camera system impresses for a foldable device. The main 50MP camera performs admirably in good light, while the ultra-wide lens is decent. The zoom capabilities go up to 100x but should be used cautiously; the quality fades significantly after 6x zoom.
MagicOS 9, based on Android 15, adds multitasking options, allowing for smooth operation across multiple apps. The interface is clear, albeit loaded with proprietary apps, most of which can be uninstalled. Honor also includes useful AI features, like live translation in six languages powered by OpenAI.
