Washington — The House Oversight Committee has decided not to pursue testimony from Robert Mueller. This comes after learning more about his health issues. An aide mentioned that Mueller’s condition prevents him from testifying, and the committee has withdrawn its subpoena.
Mueller, known for leading the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, is now 81. His family revealed to The New York Times that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2021.
The committee had initially issued a subpoena to Mueller last month while seeking depositions from several former Justice Department officials. Mueller, who was FBI Director from 2001 to 2013, was seen as someone with valuable insights related to the Epstein investigation.
In a letter to Mueller, committee chairman James Comer pointed out that his FBI role during the Epstein investigation made him an important potential witness.
