GREEN BAY – Jordan Love is fine not being the center of attention as the Packers kick off the season against the Lions. Usually, he gets the loudest cheers when he’s introduced last, but this time, there’s a new star in town: Micah Parsons. Love knows the crowd will likely go wild for him.
“They gotta do defense first,” Love joked about the introductions. “Micah will definitely get the crowd going.” He imagines Parsons getting a sack right away, firing up the fans and setting the tone for the game.
Parsons’s participation remains in question because of a back injury. Head Coach Matt LaFleur is keeping his fingers crossed that Parsons will suit up. “He’s a fast learner,” LaFleur noted. “His football IQ is off the charts, so I don’t see any issues with him grasping our game plan.”
Meanwhile, Detroit has its own big return in Aidan Hutchinson, who missed last year’s matchups against the Packers due to injury. Hutchinson has impressed in his short career, notching 3½ sacks and an interception in his first three games against Green Bay, all wins for the Lions.
Timing has been pivotal for Hutchinson against the Packers. His interception as a rookie came on a crucial fourth-and-goal play. In another match, he had two key sacks that prevented the Packers from scoring touchdowns, forcing them to settle for field goals. His impact is more than just numbers; it’s about dominating in critical moments.
With 7½ sacks in just five games last season, Hutchinson was on course for an impressive award until injury slowed him down. Now, with him back, the Packers are ready. “He’s a relentless competitor who can turn a game around,” LaFleur stated. Love and the team are preparing for his dynamic presence on the field.
“You have to respect him,” said right guard Sean Rhyan. “He’s really good. That’s all I’ll say.” Love recognizes Parsons’s talent too, saying his addition brings a new energy to the team. “Everyone’s excited. We know what he’s capable of.”
