Submit Your Research: Call for Papers for the 6th Annual Global Arts International Conference at Ohio University!

The Chaddock + Morrow College of Fine Arts at Ohio University is excited to announce the sixth annual Global Arts International Conference, happening from March 17-19, 2026. This year’s theme is “Spectrums of Creativity: Exploring Global Performing and Visual Arts.” The conference invites creative thinkers—researchers, teachers, and artists—to share their insights and work.

Organizers expect about 500-700 attendees, creating a vibrant community to explore various aspects of the arts. Creative expressions can include performance art, dance, theater, music, visual arts like painting and sculpture, and collaborative projects across disciplines. This year’s focus highlights diverse cultural narratives and the unique ways different communities approach art.

The keynote speaker will be Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, a well-respected figure in Ghana’s arts scene. With over 30 years of experience as an actress, screenwriter, and now Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, she has dedicated her life to showcasing African culture. Her experience includes producing popular television programs that celebrate storytelling.

In previous years, keynote speakers have included notable figures like Dr. Mark Phillips and Dr. Melita Belgrave. Their contributions have paved the way for dynamic discussion.

Proposals can explore a wide range of ideas, from innovative teaching methods in the arts to the impact of technology like AI in creative expressions. Topics may also touch on sustainability in the arts, the nuances of cultural exchange vs. appropriation, and the role of the arts in fostering social change.

Recent studies show that the arts can significantly impact communities, promoting social justice and economic growth. For instance, a survey by the National Endowment for the Arts found that 84% of Americans believe the arts enhance community quality of life.
