Oktoberfest is coming up quickly! If you want to dive into the festivities early, visit Kulshan’s Trackside Beer Garden on Friday, September 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. There’s live music, entertainment, and even a stein-holding contest! For $15, you get a ceramic stein, a half-liter of beer, and discounts on refills. This year’s special Festbier will be served straight from the cask along with other German-style beers.
Mark your calendars! The main Oktoberfest celebration runs from September 20 to October 5. Expect more exciting events around town as the festival approaches.
If you’re in the mood to explore local farms this weekend, don’t miss the Whatcom County Farm Tour on Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet local farmers and learn how food makes its way to our tables. Various goodies will be available for purchase, so bring a cooler!

After your farm tour, head to Deming for the Coast Salish Mural Unveiling at the Deming Library on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Artist Sienum Jason LaClair will unveil a mural celebrating Nooksack traditions. There will be speeches, storytelling, and a potluck meal—definitely a community highlight!
