Supreme Court gave notice on the appeal of Maneka Gandhi who lost the Lok Sabha elections

Maneka Gandhi Supreme Court: The Supreme Court has refused to listen to the petition of former MP Maneka Gandhi. Maneka had challenged Section 81 of the Representation of the People Act. In this part, a time restrict of 45 days has been mounted for submitting the election petition. In reality, Allahabad High Court had rejected Maneka’s election petition on the foundation of not submitting inside the time restrict. High Court rejects Maneka Gandhi’s election petition

Earlier, Maneka Gandhi had challenged the election of the successful candidate in Allahabad High Court. He had alleged that Samajwadi Party’s Ram Bhual Nishad didn’t give details about 4 out of 12 legal instances registered in opposition to him in the affidavit filed at the time of nomination. Allahabad High Court had rejected Maneka’s petition saying that she didn’t file the petition inside the time restrict given in the Representation of the People Act and on this foundation her petition was rejected.
