From Pageant Queen to Army Hero: The Inspiring Journey of Kashish Methwani

Pune: Kashish Methwani from Maharashtra has embarked on a unique journey, transitioning from the world of beauty pageants to the Indian Army. She was recently commissioned as a lieutenant, an achievement marked by her passing-out parade on September 6.

At just 24 years old, Kashish’s dreams always included two paths. “Watching Miss India as a child made me want to be part of that world,” she shares. “But I also dreamed of serving my country. That desire stayed with me.”

Kashish grew up in Pune and attended an army school, where she excelled academically and took part in cultural and sports events. Her ambition led her to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in college. Her hard work paid off when she earned the ‘Best Cadet’ title at the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. “Meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi that day was unforgettable. It solidified my goal to enter the Army,” she recalls.

Despite her military aspirations, she also pursued fashion. In 2023, she was crowned Miss International India, a title that brought her recognition and job offers in the entertainment industry. However, she chose to decline these opportunities. “I knew my future was in the Army. I wanted to wear the uniform and defend my country,” she explains.

Kashish took the Combined Defence Services exam in 2024 and finished with an impressive All India Rank of 2. After training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, she proudly became part of the Army Air Defence Corps (ADC).

Reflecting on her training, she says, “It was tough, but the discipline and confidence I developed through modeling helped me endure. I had moments of doubt, but my family’s support and my determination pushed me through.”

Now, stepping into her role as an officer, Kashish believes her experiences in both fields have shaped her. “The crown brought me attention, but the uniform gives my life real purpose. Serving my country is the greatest honor I could ever have.”

In a world where many are questioning their career paths, Kashish’s story stands out. It highlights that passion and commitment can drive individuals to pursue seemingly different dreams simultaneously. As young people navigate choices today, her journey inspires them to stay true to their aspirations, no matter how unconventional.
