The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) recently held a workshop to discuss the upcoming “State of the Environment in the State of Qatar – Second Edition 2025” report. Experts from various organizations gathered to contribute their insights.
This report aims to provide a solid overview of Qatar’s environmental situation using accurate data from 2020 to 2024. Collaborating with institutions like Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Qatar University, the report is structured around the UN Environment Programme’s Driver–Pressure–State–Impact–Response (DPSIR) framework. It covers critical areas such as air and water quality, climate change, biodiversity, waste management, and economic policies.
Engineer Hussein Al Kubaisi, Director of the Technical Office at the MoECC, emphasized that this report reflects Qatar’s commitment to environmental issues and aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The workshop allowed strategic partners to provide valuable feedback before the final version is published.
Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari, an advisor at the MoECC, highlighted that the report serves as a detailed scientific reference. It aims to bolster Qatar’s sustainability efforts and help decision-makers formulate evidence-based policies.
Recent studies underline the importance of such initiatives. For instance, a survey by the World Economic Forum found that 61% of leaders view environmental sustainability as crucial to their businesses.
The ongoing dialogue around sustainability is more relevant than ever, especially as the global community faces pressing climate challenges. Engaging with local and international experts can pave the way for more effective solutions.
