Indore: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat recently spoke about India’s progress, noting that the nation is exceeding expectations thanks to its deep-rooted faith in traditional values. His comments come as the Indian economy showed a remarkable growth rate of 7.80% during the April-June quarter, the highest in over a year.
Speaking at the launch of Madhya Pradesh minister Prahlad Singh Patel’s book, Bhagwat emphasized India’s historical strength, stating that the country thrived for 3,000 years without global conflict. He attributed modern-day issues to personal interests that lead to strife.
He praised India’s unique approach to knowledge, action, and devotion, asserting that these traditional philosophies are key to the country’s development. Bhagwat referenced former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who doubted India’s ability to stay united post-independence. He remarked, “While England faces divisions, we remain firmly united.”
Bhagwat also highlighted India’s harmonious relationship with nature, pointing out the cultural reverence for elements like cows, rivers, and trees. He believes that the world is yearning for such a bond, stating that recent perspectives have focused too heavily on individualism and power, often at the expense of compassion.
He suggested that actions in today’s world often lack the necessary faith and commitment, leading to widespread challenges. “We all play a role in the drama of life,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and community over individualism.
In addition to his inspirational messages, Bhagwat underlined the need for both knowledge and action. He criticized those who possess knowledge but fail to act, calling them “inactive knowledgeable people.” His remarks resonated with attendees from various sectors, suggesting a collective interest in a prosperous and united future.
Patel’s book, inspired by his spiritual journeys around the Narmada River, embodies this ethos of faith and knowledge. As Bhagwat eloquently put it, “We are a nation founded on faith, combining action with logic.” This unique blend may very well define India’s path forward.
As of October 2023, recent surveys indicate that nearly 75% of Indians express optimism about the country’s future, reflecting a deep-seated belief in its potential for growth and unity. This optimism stands in contrast to historical challenges and suggests that the spirit of togetherness persists in contemporary society.
