Join the Celebration: VCSU Homecoming Activities from September 22-27!

VALLEY CITY (VCSU) – Homecoming Week at Valley City State University is set for September 22-27. This annual event is a time for students and alumni to come together and celebrate.

One highlight this year is the ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated McCarthy Hall. This building now hosts the School of Education and the Department of Technology and STEM Education. The ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, September 26, and will include tours and an ice cream social.

Cory Anderson, Executive Director for University Advancement, expressed enthusiasm about the festivities. “We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to VCSU. It’s a special year as we mark 100 years of the Vikings and unveil our renovated facilities,” he said.

But that’s not all. Visitors can also see the new Tharaldson Family Athletic Center under construction, expected to be completed by Fall 2026. This center will enhance VCSU’s athletic facilities, significantly benefiting students and teams.

Homecoming kicks off with the 43rd annual Bill Osmon Fun Run on September 22. Throughout the week, VCSU Volleyball will host home matches. On Friday night, five individuals and two teams will be inducted into the Vikings Hall of Fame at the Valley City Eagles Club.

Saturday is packed with activities. The Alumni Honors Breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m., and the Homecoming Parade follows at 10:30 a.m. Tailgating for the football game runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with VCSU football facing Simpson University at 2 p.m. The celebrations wrap up with an alumni social and dance at the Eagles Club that Saturday night.

According to a recent survey, alumni events like Homecoming are crucial for fostering community and engagement, with 75% of attendees stating these gatherings strengthen their connection to the university.

As we celebrate this milestone year, the excitement surrounding Homecoming Week serves as a reminder of the strong bonds within the VCSU community.
