Milwaukee, WI – An event called Empty Bowls is set to raise $70,000 for NourishMKE, which helps families facing food insecurity in the area. This event will feature unique, artisan-made bowls and delicious soups from beloved local restaurants.

On Sunday, October 5th, stop by the Kern Center for a chance to buy a unique bowl, each handcrafted by local artisans. While you’re there, sample a variety of soups from local restaurants that celebrate Milwaukee’s diverse culinary scene. Enjoy live music, pottery demonstrations, and a selection of refreshing beverages. Every dollar raised will help NourishMKE provide over 1 million pounds of food to more than 50,000 people every year.

Valerie MacMillan, Executive Director of NourishMKE, highlights the importance of community support: “When our community comes together, real change happens.” This event transforms a simple meal into a meaningful act of kindness for those facing food challenges.

The need for support has never been more urgent. With changes in federal food policies and economic struggles, many families are relying on community resources. Events like Empty Bowls create a fun, family-friendly way to help.

Some of the local restaurants participating include Café Corazon, Glorioso’s, and The Bartolotta Restaurants. Major sponsors include AMCS Incorporated and WMSE Radio Station, among others.
