A new soundtrack for “Wicked: For Good” is coming soon! It features songs written by Stephen Schwartz, who created the music for the original. Two exciting solos will showcase the talents of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, titled “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble.”
These new songs might even be eligible for an Oscar, which is a big deal. The first film’s music was great, but it didn’t have completely new songs.
The soundtrack will drop on November 21, coinciding with the film’s release. Schwartz has mentioned that we can expect fresh takes on familiar songs too. He said, “I’m especially happy that the soundtrack has so much new music. Both new listeners and long-time fans will find a lot to discover.”
In addition to the new songs, there will be another number called “The Wicked Witch of the East,” featuring Marissa Bode, Erivo, and Ethan Slater. This song was part of the stage show but wasn’t in the original cast album.
Interestingly, the album will kick off with “Every Day More Wicked,” a title not found in the stage musical, but it echoes some lyrics from “Thank Goodness.” This makes it a unique addition rather than just another song.
Historically, Act II of “Wicked” had fewer standout tracks compared to Act I. The new solos for Grande and Erivo are sure to bring more depth and emotion to the score.
The soundtrack will be available in multiple formats: CD, vinyl, and even a double picture-disc. Some stores will have exclusive versions with special packaging.
With so many new elements planned, it’s clear that both fans of the original and new audiences have something exciting to look forward to!
