Lady Chaps Shine on Senior Night: A Thrilling Victory Over the Lobos – Lubbock Christian University Athletics

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 17, 2025) — On Senior Night, Lubbock Christian showcased their skills with a commanding 5-0 win over Sul Ross State at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.

The Lady Chaps stepped up their game, taking 33 shots, with 15 landing on target. In the second half, they scored four goals, sharing the playing field with five different scorers and four players providing assists.

The match had a strong start for Lubbock Christian, with Ella Spiller breaking through with a goal in the 24th minute, assisted by Lauren Rotan. This marked Rotan’s first assist of the season. Journey Curs was relentless in offense, pushing forward with multiple shots, though some missed and they failed to capitalize on a penalty kick in the 36th minute. Still, they led 1-0 by halftime.

The second half shifted into high gear as the Lady Chaps took control. Sydney Smith scored in the 55th minute with assistance from Curs, marking Smith’s first collegiate goal.

The pressure continued, and Mia Chambliss and Duschka Diaz added goals in the 70th and 74th minutes. Both Chambliss and Diaz made vital contributions, with Diaz scoring in her first game of the season. Senior Kaitlyn Freeman capped off the match with a goal in the 86th minute, assisted by Riley Espinoza, making it a historic moment for Freeman, as it was her first goal ever.

The match showed impressive stats for Lubbock Christian, with Smith scoring on her lone shot and Espinoza racking up her third assist of the session. Goalkeeper Emma Wright secured her second shutout of the season, not facing a single shot on goal.
