Lowe’s Employee Discovers Adorable Follower After Hearing Mysterious Noise

Last week, Ryan Finchum was working in the outdoor section at Lowe’s when he heard a faint meow. Curious, he looked around and found a cat peeking at him from behind a fence.

As Ryan went about his tasks, the cat followed closely, meowing and demanding his attention. Struck by her friendliness, he wondered if she might belong to someone. But it quickly became clear she was abandoned. Nearby, there was an old, rusty crate with a hole in it, suggesting she had been left there for some time.

Ryan called his fiancée, Makena Waldrip, to share the news. Even though she was out with friends, she rushed over to help him save the cat. Ryan felt a strong connection and said, “I think she’s supposed to be ours.”

To their surprise, the cat seemed to trust them right away. She hopped into the carrier, chirping happily on the way home. Once at their house, Makena created a cozy spot for the kitty, who they decided to name Tilly. Makena spent an hour sitting with Tilly as the cat curled up in her lap and rubbed against her hand.

“What a sweetheart!” Makena thought, baffled by how someone could abandon such a loving cat. Within days, Tilly settled in, often found snuggled in warm blankets on the couch.

Today, Tilly has become the couple’s favorite couch potato. As Makena puts it, “Every day when I come home, she’s in the same spot.” But like any playful cat, she never misses an opportunity to chase the laser pointer.

Tilly’s rescue story sheds light on the sad reality many pets face. According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.2 million cats enter U.S. shelters every year. This highlights the importance of fostering and adoption as life-saving options.

Ryan and Makena are grateful for Tilly, feeling lucky to have her as part of their family. “We are so proud and happy to be her mom and dad,” Makena said. Their bond with Tilly shows just how impactful a simple act of kindness can be.
