Miami Surges to No. 2 in AP Top 25 Rankings—Ohio State Leads, Oklahoma Joins the Top 10!

Miami is on the rise in college football, climbing to the No. 2 spot in The Associated Press poll. After defeating ranked opponents, the Hurricanes showcased a strong performance with a significant victory over Florida. This marks their highest ranking since 2017.

Previously, Penn State held the No. 2 position but fell to No. 3 after a week off, while LSU dropped to No. 4 following an easy win against Southeastern Louisiana. Georgia and Oregon maintained their spots at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. A notable highlight is Oklahoma’s return to the top ten for the first time in two years after a win against Auburn.

The poll is reflective of recent performances. Miami received seven first-place votes, an increase from the previous week. Ohio State, with an open date, continues to lead with 52 first-place votes.

Indiana made headlines by crushing then-No. 9 Illinois 63-7, moving up to No. 11. This shocking win came after they faced one of the easier schedules earlier in the season. Similarly, Texas Tech climbed to No. 12 after defeating Utah.

TCU and BYU also made their way back into the rankings at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively. TCU’s return to the Top 25 marks a significant moment after their challenging season last year. Their recent win against SMU helped solidify their position.

Poll trends show Oklahoma is the lowest-ranked team to receive a first-place vote since 2023. Meanwhile, Illinois experienced a historic drop, falling from No. 9 to No. 23 after their loss to Indiana.

As for the upcoming games, there are thrilling matchups on the horizon. LSU is set to face Mississippi, while Oregon will go up against Penn State in a rematch from last year’s Big Ten championship game. Alabama is set to meet Georgia, marking a historic rivalry that has seen the Crimson Tide win nine of the last ten encounters.

In recent history, Miami’s ranking surge is reminiscent of their strong season in 2017, when they began with a perfect record. Similarly, Texas Tech’s current success draws parallels to their promising start in 2013 under former coach Kliff Kingsbury.

As college football continues to unfold, these rankings and upcoming games will keep fans engaged as teams battle for supremacy. For more information on the latest polls and updates, check out the AP’s dedicated college football section here.
