A Culinary Adventure: Discover Everything I Ate in Kennebunkport, Maine!

The rocky southern coast of Maine offers a refreshing escape from the bustle of Boston. Every time I visit, a sense of calm washes over me. The charming towns, picturesque lighthouses, and mouthwatering seafood create the perfect vacation vibe. One of my favorite spots is Kennebunkport, where I recently spent a night with my family, breathing in the ocean air and enjoying local delicacies.

We stayed at the Breakwater Inn. This lovely 35-room boutique hotel sits by the Kennebunk River and has a rich history. After a renovation in July 2025, the hotel now blends modern comfort with classic charm. Our room on the third floor was spacious, with cozy beds and stunning views of the water.

Dining Experience

The inn is currently hosting the Ultimate Maine Food Tour, featuring two nights in a waterview King Suite and meals at some fantastic local restaurants. Participants can savor classic dishes like stuffed lobster, clam chowder, and homemade blueberry pie. The event runs until October 12, making it a great time to visit.

For dinner, we chose the Port Fish & Chophouse, part of the food tour. A stroll past the inn’s private beach led us to the restaurant, where we soaked in views of local lobster boats. Inside, we enjoyed handcrafted cocktails and a delightful shrimp appetizer while watching the sun set over the water. Dishes like pan-roasted halibut and seared scallops were highlights of our meal, and I can confidently say it was unforgettable.

Although we planned to try Mabel’s Lobster Claw for dessert, we were too full. We’ll save the famous blueberry pie for our next visit.

Local Flavors and Attractions

The next morning, we explored Kennebunkport’s shops after fueling up at Kport Provisions. This local gem offers gourmet items and great breakfast. We enjoyed hot sandwiches and a blueberry muffin while watching the town wake up.

Walking around, I noticed the area was buzzing with tourists eager to enjoy the fall colors. Many venues, including the Breakwater Inn, are also popular for seaside weddings.

Before leaving, we couldn’t resist visiting Bob’s Clam Hut in Kittery, another stop on the food tour. This iconic spot has been serving seafood since 1956. I opted for a Bob & Betty’s Special, which includes whole belly clams and an overflowing lobster roll—it was a delicious end to our trip.

In recent surveys, many visitors highlighted their love for local seafood, with over 70% saying a clam chowder dish is a must-have while in Maine. Social media trends show people sharing their coastal adventures, especially focusing on food experiences like ours.

Conclusion

Kennebunkport is a treasure where seafood and breathtaking views come together. Each visit offers something new and delightful. Whether you’re a foodie or just looking for a relaxing getaway, this coastal haven is worth exploring. For more details about the Ultimate Maine Food Tour, check out the Breakwater Inn website.
