In a recent highlight for Augusta University volleyball, two players have made impressive strides in the Peach Belt Conference. Layne Witherspoon and Sydney Harrington have each received top honors, showcasing their outstanding performances on the court.

Layne Witherspoon: Player of the Week

Layne Witherspoon, a senior outside hitter, earned the title of Player of the Week. In just three matches, she played a key role in helping the team secure two wins. Here’s what she accomplished:

• Scored 43 kills with a hitting percentage of .363.
• Piled up 48.5 points over 11 sets.

Witherspoon currently ranks second in the conference for points per set, averaging 4.32, and stands third in total kills and hitting percentage. Her contribution has been vital for the Jaguars this season.

Sydney Harrington: Specialist of the Week

Meanwhile, Sydney Harrington, also a senior and setter, was named Specialist of the Week for the second time this season. She made a significant impact as well:

• Averaged over 44 assists per match, with a remarkable 12.09 assists per set.
• Achieved two double-doubles in recent games (39 assists, 12 digs against UAH; 33 assists, 12 digs against Mississippi College).
• Recorded 61 assists against Montevallo, the highest in the PBC this season.

Harrington leads the conference in assists per set and is second in total assists.
