Indian Railways is responding to high passenger demand between Puri in Odisha and Surat in Gujarat by launching a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express. This train will connect Brahmapur in Odisha with Udhna in Gujarat, as reported by The Times of India.
The inaugural service (Train No. 09022) will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 27 from Brahmapur. This new train adds another affordable travel option for many passengers, following the existing Jogbani–Erode Amrit Bharat Express that already runs through Nagpur.
The regular service will operate as Train No. 19021/19022. Here’s a quick look at the schedule:
- From Udhna: Leaves every Sunday at 7:40 AM, arriving at Nagpur by 7:40 PM.
- From Brahmapur: Departs every Monday at 11:45 PM, reaching Udhna at 8:45 AM on Wednesday.
The train will make stops at several key stations, including:
- Udhna
- Nagpur
- Raipur
- Vizianagaram
It will feature 22 modern LHB Amrit Bharat coaches, designed for comfort, including sleeper classes and general second class.
Estimates suggest that rail transport plays a crucial role in India’s economy, with nearly 23 million passengers traveling daily. The introduction of this service reflects a growing trend in improving rail infrastructure to meet public demand. As of 2023, Indian Railways aims to enhance connectivity and comfort for travelers across the country.
Recent social media reactions have been positive, with users welcoming more travel choices. This train not only offers convenience but also showcases efforts to boost local economies through improved transport links.
