PM Modi Celebrates Groundbreaking GST Reforms and Highlights UP as an Investment Powerhouse at Global Trade Show

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently praised the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) as a crucial step toward turning the concept of Antyodaya into Rashtrodaya. He emphasized that this event supports Prime Minister Modi’s vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, focusing on local production through the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative.

While speaking at the trade show, Yogi expressed gratitude to PM Modi for introducing next-gen GST reforms. He called these reforms a “wonderful Diwali gift” for various groups, including the poor, farmers, and small traders. Yogi pointed out that Uttar Pradesh excels in sectors like apparel, textiles, and handicrafts, and that these reforms will help the state tackle global economic challenges.

The recent changes in GST, which streamlined the tax structure from four slabs to two, have energized the market. “We’ve seen a fresh vibrancy in the market just in the last few days,” he said, highlighting benefits for consumers, workers, and small entrepreneurs.

UPITS features over 2,250 exhibitors from 75 districts and 550 buyers from 80 countries, showcasing the state’s industrial growth and rich cultural heritage. Russia participated as the partner country, with more than 532 foreign buyers attending.

Yogi also noted that Uttar Pradesh is India’s top geographical indication (GI) hub, with 77 GI products and more applications in progress. At the recent UP Global Investors Summit, the state received proposals worth approximately Rs 40 lakh crore, with Rs 12 lakh crore already developing and plans for more projects to launch in November.

He underscored the importance of strong connectivity, improved law and order, and an encouraging investment climate. Yogi urged collaboration among industry, academia, and society to make Uttar Pradesh a driving force for a developed Bharat.

Recent statistics show that states with strong local manufacturing have seen a 30% increase in job creation. This trend highlights the potential for UP, bolstered by recent reforms, to lead India into a new era of economic growth.
