The Kansas men’s golf team is heading to Lake Forest, Illinois, for the Windom Memorial Classic at Knollwood Club on September 29-30. After finishing eighth in their last event, the Bearcat Invitational, the team is eager for a strong performance.

This tournament features a shotgun start on Monday with two rounds of 36 holes. The final round will take place on Tuesday. It’s a competitive field hosted by Northwestern, bringing together top teams from across the country.

Coach Jamie Bermel is leading a lineup that includes seniors Luke Honner and Will King, along with sophomore Ty Lasley, Hartej Grewal, and freshman Arthur Carlier. Honner and King are standout players. Honner recently achieved back-to-back top 25 finishes, while King secured the best finish for the team this season, tying for seventh at his last outing.

Lasley is improving, having finished tied for 33rd in his last tournament. Carlier, in his first year, is maintaining a solid scoring average of 72.0. As for Grewal, this is his first season with the team, and he tied for 60th in the Bearcat Invitational.

Recent statistics indicate a surge in golf’s popularity, especially among younger players. A survey showed that 37% of youth golfers in the U.S. are now under 18, up from 30% five years ago. This trend highlights a renewed interest in the sport, possibly driven by social media and accessibility to golf courses.

Fans can follow live scoring of the tournament on the official scoreboard. The Kansas Men’s Golf team will have live updates throughout the event posted on their Twitter account.
