Celebrating Sewa Parv: Indian Diplomatic Missions in the UK Host Viksit Bharat Run for Community Engagement

The High Commission of India in London recently celebrated Sewa Parv 2025 with the Viksit Bharat Run. This event brought the community together with the theme of “service, creativity, and cultural pride.”

Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami kicked off the festivities in Harrow, northwest London. He encouraged everyone to embrace their heritage through the Atmanirbhar Bharat pledge. This pledge aims to carry India’s culture and traditions into the future.

During the event, the High Commissioner planted a cherry tree sapling at his residence, honoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam.” This reflects a commitment to sustainability and our connection to nature.

The atmosphere was lively with dhol beats, traditional songs, and dances. Local leaders, including Harrow’s Mayor Anjana Patel and MP Bob Blackman, joined the celebrations. The new Consulate General of India in Manchester also held a similar run, highlighting India’s development journey and promoting healthy living.

Events like these took place across various regions, including Birmingham and Scotland, in partnership with community groups. They aimed to unite people under the shared vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

According to a recent survey by the Indian Ministry of Culture, community events like these improve social cohesion and enhance cultural pride within immigrant communities. Researchers noted that such initiatives foster connections and shared values among participants.

With a clear focus on service and sustainability, the celebration reflects a growing trend of organizing community-driven events that not only honor cultural heritage but also encourage positive lifestyle choices. These activities are not just about running—they embody a spirit of unity and commitment to a better future.
