Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (Switch 2)
Capcom has a winner with *Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection*. Released on the Switch 2, it quickly became my favorite game at the show. I loved *Wings of Ruin*, so I was eager to dive into this one.
Rather than a customizable hero, this game features Leo, a royal captain of the Rangers. His playful Palico buddy calls him “Your Highness,” setting up a fun dynamic. In the demo, Leo teaches a newcomer, Thea, and me about the battle system as we take down monsters like Velocipray and Paolumu. The boss fight against the Chatacabra was particularly intense!
The graphics were vibrant, and I enjoyed the seamless experience on the Switch 2. Climbing towers for a better view reminded me of *Zelda: Breath of the Wild*. I can’t wait for the full release in March 2026!
Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection (Switch 1)
The *Mega Man Star Force: Legacy Collection* gathers the trio of *Star Force* games. I played the first one on the DS during the demo. The opening scenes introduced Geo and his Vizualizer headset, setting up a storyline rich with alien encounters. The dialogue felt a bit long, but the crisp graphics on a large TV impressed me, especially during the battles.
When it comes out in 2026, I’ll likely play it mostly in handheld mode. It’s perfect for on-the-go gaming!
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Switch 2)
Mineru stood out with her unique abilities, summoning Zonai Devices for massive damage. I can’t wait to master her skills when the game releases on November 6!
Once Upon a Katamari (Switch 1)
I had a blast with *Once Upon a Katamari*. I rolled through a charming village, collecting items and jamming to upbeat music. My ranking might have landed at D, but the fun was all there. I can’t wait to improve my skills when it launches on October 24.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch 1 & 2)
I also tried the *Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake*. Playing through Dragon Quest II, the characters felt much livelier compared to the original. New features like underwater traveling added depth to gameplay. The fast-paced battles felt satisfying—I’m excited for its release on October 30!
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam (Switch 1 & 2)
In *Professor Layton and the New World of Steam*, the puzzles felt more engaging. Using the Joy-Con’s mouse mode, I tackled a fascinating puzzle that required observation. Although I found the controls tricky, the new setting brings a fresh vibe. We’ll have to wait until 2026 for its release.
Little Nightmares III (Switch 1 & 2)
*Little Nightmares III* feels like a must-play. The co-op gameplay was seamless, as I guided Alone while the AI controlled Loss. The atmosphere was chilling yet charming. Teaming up is key for tackling challenges. This game drops on October 10—can’t wait!
SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide (Switch 2)
I experienced *SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide* next. The nostalgic platforming feels like a throwback to classic 3D games. Playing as Patrick, I navigated levels and defeated ghostly foes. It’s exciting to see this franchise thrive, with a release date set for November 18!
D-Topia (Switch 1 & 2)
These ten games from the Tokyo Game Show 2025 truly stood out. With the growing number of developers getting access to Switch 2, we might just see an even bigger list next year!
