The Lyapunov time, which signifies how long we can predict their movements, is a mere 150 years. This short window makes it difficult to assess long-term risks. Every 12,000 years, these asteroids can shift their orbits significantly, raising concerns about potential collisions with Earth.

In a bid to understand the threat better, experts have run simulations of these asteroids. They found that some might come much closer to Earth than we’d like, with distances under 0.03 astronomical units deeming them potentially hazardous. Some of these rocks could even be large enough to cause massive devastation if they were to collide with our planet.

One expert, Valerio Carruba from São Paulo State University, emphasized the pressing need for better tracking technology. While there’s no immediate collision risk, enhancing monitoring methods is vital. There are suggestions to send a telescope near Venus to provide clearer data on these mysterious asteroids, helping us understand their behaviors and risks better.
